Money off vouchers available under the Renewable Heat Premium Payment scheme

Good news yesterday for householders as they will be able to get more cash for renewable heating kit. The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has announced the Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) scheme vouchers have increased in some cases by 100%.

The RHPP scheme offers money towards the cost of buying and installing several types of eco heating systems. The voucher values are now £2,300 for ground source heat pumps (GSHP), £2,000 for biomass boilers, £1300 for air source heat pumps (ASHP) and £600 for solar thermal panels.

The vouchers will be available from now until March 2014 when the much awaited Renewable Heat Incentive is due to take over. A new requirement before submitting a claim to the Energy Saving Trust to redeem the voucher is to have a Green Deal assessment (GDA). Like the now familiar EPC certificate, the GDA will ensure homeowners are made aware of how renewable heat could fit with energy efficiency improvements for their home and help with choosing the right technology. Some of the cost could also be paid for by the Green Deal through savings on their energy bill.
